Seoul Bird

WESTFIELD - Shepherds Bush, London
JUBILEE PLACE - Canary Wharf, London

Greenway Associates originally started working with the Seoul Bird team on their very first Westfield site, which is found within the main food court in Westfield Shepherd's Bush. Seoul Bird is a Korean chain restaurant concept, created by duo team Chefs Judy Joo and Andrew Hales, who have worked together for over 10 years to create a number of exciting restaurants. In Seoul-inspired surroundings, Seoul Bird is bringing the flavours of South Korea to London.

THE PROJECT

As the project in Canary Wharf was the first full restaurant fit-out for Seoul Bird, the design was developed from scratch to become the brand standard.  The overall design concept blends old Korea with new, in exactly the same way that the food does. Of particular note is the unique artwork and punchy use of neon. It is definitely a unique new diner for London, and hopefully, beyond!

OUR ROLE

After completing the Westfield site, the project team went on to work on their newest location in Canary Wharf. Greenway Associates were the cost consultant for both projects and established and managed all the budgets associated with the build, FF&E, lighting, operational equipment and kitchens.  Daniel Reid is our team leader on the Seoul Bird projects.

THE SITE

Working within an established shopping centre always has its complexities, with issues that can include having to work at night, stringent noise controls and complex fire and mechanical ventilation requirements.  An additional challenge for this project was bringing the frontage to life, with seating and extravagant theming extending into the outside mall area.  The team worked very hard to have the signage and canopies attach to the existing structure, and to get the new floor to meet up beautifully with planters and electronic menu boards in a highly trafficked area of the mall.  All in all, it was a really big team effort!
